CLIMATE ACTION FILMS
MORE THAN WE KNOW
-Youth Climate Activism Award Winner
|
Director, Director of Photography, Editor
MORE THAN WE KNOW reflects on my experience in climate action filmmaking. This retrospective outlines aspects of my creative philosophy while recounting key moments in my filmmaking journey thus far. Revisiting my previous work with a more developed documentary style benefitted me when I was being considered for a Youth Climate Activism Award.
10,000 Wasted Lakes
-Videos for Change Global Competitor
|
Director, Director of Photography, Editor
10,000 Wasted Lakes expands on themes I explored in Canaries of the Coast by exploring local impacts of climate change in Minnesota. I also got more exposure to the world of festivals and film competitions. This is a prime example of what I call an “inertia project” which sustains creative energy.
Canaries of the Coast
-First Place Student Innovation Challenge Winner
-Second Place Let’s Talk About Water International Youth Film Festival Winner
Producer, Co-Director, Director of Photography, Editor
Canaries of the Coast looks at the pollution of Pedder Bay in Vancouver Island and expands outwards beyond the bay to raise awareness of climate issues across British Columbia. This was the first film I entered in festivals and it showed me the potential I had as a filmmaker. Without this film, I would not be the creator I am today.
PROGRAM PARTNERS
Take A Stand: Youth for Conservation
This program was developed to share and treasure the natural beauty of British Columbia with our youth, including our urban-nature areas, and our unique coastal wilderness, home to rich First Nations cultures, diverse and productive oceans, and an expansive intact temperate rainforest.
Our aim is to inspire, motivate and empower youth to protect and conserve the environment through art, film, and youth-driven actions. Youth represent honest and powerful voices for social change in their communities and are important advocates for better protection of plants, animals, and the natural communities they call home.
I-SEA
The Institute for Sustainability Education & Action (I-SEA) was created 16 years ago to broaden and deepen the understanding, appreciation, and commitment to sustainability locally throughout the Gulf Islands of British Columbia, as well as internationally.
The vision of I – SEA is to be an integral, positive force for individuals, organizations and communities striving to practice sustainability.
This vision is achieved through educational projects, strategic collaborations, communications and research. We believe in the power of individuals and grassroots organizations to encourage sustainability values and best practices.
