ABOUT ME
MY WORK
NARRATIVE ECOLOGY?
Inspired by Ron Donaldson’s blog, this ecological approach to storytelling makes clear how energy flows between living organisms and their environment and prioritizes the interrelation of communities a single protagonist’s perspective. Through narrative ecology, new connections are made between each story’s environment, characters, and audience that can better mobilize action than any individual story could.
As a storyteller driven by my desire to make environmental action more accessible, I have struggled to integrate my work in filmmaking, landscape photography, and community engagement under a cohesive creative vision. But with narrative ecology as a framework, my photography can draw in new audience members at a community event which leads them to engage with my films and educational videos which might move them to tell new stories, share my work, or connect with me.
Narrative ecology is a radical approach to storytelling that I hope can motivate greater environmental action by combining mediums and revealing the connections between each story and the real world. Join me as I continue to work with community based organizations, uplift sustainability stories, and capture beautiful images that represent the best that humanity has to offer.
